Trix Kuijper was born and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. 
She has lived and worked in London UK, Amersfoort The Netherlands, Boston Ma, and Herndon Va. 
She has been based in Northern Virginia since 2000.

Trix has been drawing and painting all her life, but started her career, not as a painter, but as a nurse. Although largely self-taught, Trix studied painting in Amersfoort,The  Netherlands and at the
 Art League of Alexandria Va. 


She has developed her own highly individual style building on an initial strong influence from the great 
surrealist painters of the twentieth century, notably Magritte, Tanguy and Ernst.
